Legend has it that in 1066, after suffering a long and terrible drought, Aztec Indians appealed to their gods for help by building (and using) sacrificial pyramids. Apparently their prayers were answered because great waters came to cover those pyramids and create the beautiful lake the Indians called "Tyranena" meaning sparkling waters.

Spring is welcomed with a celebration for kids and their pets at our Annual Easter Parade and Easter Egg Hunt. Festival Days in June boasts a parade, carnival, live music and lots of great food, including the famous "Slider".

In August, our farewell to our many summer visitors is celebrated with a Beach Bash on the shores of beautifully mysterious Rock Lake. October’s fall colors tell us it’s time for Fall Festival in Commons Park. Hayrides and pumpkin decorating, as well as a huge craft and antiques fair make this event a must!

December means skating to music in Commons Park, Santa comes to town in a horse drawn wagon, and our many art, craft and antique shows such as Santa’s Workshop, which all add up to a Legendary Classic Christmas in Lake Mills.
